There's no denying that summer 2018 isn't complete until you post an Instagram of yourself on a giant floaty. Scroll through your feed right now and you'll see exactly what we mean.
Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it looks. Most devices are either not stable enough or have a hole in the middle that makes it impossible to strike a solid pose. For a fool-proof plan that guarantees the ultimate shot, we turned to the creators of Kololo. The Kardashians and Paris Hilton-approved brand has the most magical selection — including a unicorn and a narwhal — that's eye-catching, comfortable and completely enclosed at the bottom. Plus, everything is priced at under $100. From gearing up to take the 'gram to their advice on how to properly put it away, check out everything you need to know about the popular devices below.
Isis Briones: What was the inspiration behind the brand's one-of-a-kind floaty line?
Kololo: "We wanted to create magic and in searching for the most majestic animal, we came up with a floaty like the unicorn. Come on, what's more magical than that?!"
IB: Did the team face any challenges when making such large products?
K: "Yes! Having them be beautiful and comfortable at the same time wasn't easy, but we made sure to add extra-comfy details. For example, the tail of the unicorn can be made into a pillow and the narwhal has special chambers that allow people to ride and lounge in reverse."
IB: Can you let us in on the brand's biggest advice for the perfect 'gram?
K: "It's easy, just have fun and be confident! We think the perfect photo is the one you're happiest in."
IB: If you all had to pick, which would be the company's favorite celebrity floaty pose?
K: "That's a tough one! We've been spotted with so many different stars such such as Paris Hilton, Ludacris and more, but our fave would have to probably be Sneakers the Corgi."
IB: Since summer is sadly not year-round, what's the best way to disassemble and store the giant floaty?
K: "Think of it like wrapping a burrito. Open all the valves and burrito it up. Tip: fold it in half or thirds to get it more compact and make sure the floaty is completely dry before storing it."
IB: Hopefully this won't happen, but what should be done in case someone accidentally pokes a hole in the floaty?
K: "Our Soft Touch Vinyl is softer and more importantly, stronger than other brands — which makes it more resistant to rips and tears. However, if you end up poking a hole into it with a sharp object, know that all our floats come with a repair patch. PVC glue from your local hardware store is also very effective."
